When The Unexpected Happens
When the unexpected happens, I am very grateful to be a housewife and to be fairly caught up on my household tasks.
Yesterday a sudden nosebleed as RNG got out of bed, forced me to wash the bedlinnen and the sofa (sofabed) covers, producing an extra 3 loads of laundry (I had already planned to do the nappies, whites and some woolens).
The 3 emergency loads of laundry and stain treating took a portion of my day, and meant that I needed to postpone my bread-baking till today along with the other 3 loads of laundry. Had I been working, I would have no doubt been late for work, and still only able to do 2 loads of laundry (1 before and 1 after work), which would have meant that 6 loads of laundry would take 3 instead of 6 days. The sofa covers which NEED to be ironed would have to wait till the Sunday.
This morning I got a message from a friend that desperately needs help looking after her youngest 2 while she goes to the school play of the other 2. So tomorrow my day will be somewhat different than planned too.
So my current "To do" list looks like this:
Today:
Prep breakfast, do breakfast dishes, put light woolens in machine, take woolens out of machine, put whites in machine, have worship with PLB, make lunch, serve lunch, lunch dishes, take whites out of dryer (I only use this if I HAVE to), Bake bread and pizza bases for Saturday evening's dinner, wash floors - after making bread as the flour goes all over the kitchen, iron sofa covers and preferably a few more things, prep bag for tomorrow, make serve and wash up after supper.
Tomorrow:
Prep breakfast, do breakfast dishes, have worship with PLB, put dark woolens into machine, hang dark woolens, put kitchen towels into machine, hang kitchen towels, make supper, go over to friend's house, come home from friends house, warm supper & eat with RNG, do dishes, go to friend's house again with RNG and PLB for prayer and Bible study meeting.

Friday:
Prep breakfast, do breakfast dishes, have worship with PLB, make and serve lunch, do lunch dishes, clean bathroom, clean shoes, iron anything left for Sabbath, Make food for church fellowship meal: pasta, pasta sauce, potatoes, take bread out of freezer, prep our supper - jacket potatoes, salad and maybe pie/crumble
Sabbath: REST!
Of course in addition to the above I have the usual baby care. The thing that is ironic is that yesterday my father commented on my extra loads of laundry with a slightly sarcastic note, "the joys of being a housewife", - well if I wasn't a housewife, I would have all the same work minus the baby care during the day and I would have to buy the horrid supermarket bread instead of bake it, thankfully I am a housewife and I have time for all the unexpected extra workLabels: home-making
